Mom's Flowers

These are Mom's stargazer lilies. She had several different kinds of lilies this year in her front yard garden. I say had because I got a little excited about a lizard that ran into the garden, and naturally, I had to chase it. I didn't get the lizard, but somehow Mom's lilies fell over. She wasn't mad at me - she knew I was protecting her lilies from that pesky lizard!

Rib Night

I got a special treat tonight - rib bones! You can see in my picture that I was just too busy eating to smile for the camera. This is now one of my favorite foods - a whole lot better than dog biscuits! Mom says the secret to good ribs is Maull's BBQ sauce - I say the secret to good ribs is leaving lots of meat on them for me to eat!

That Wascally Wabbit

Sorry you haven't heard from me for a couple of days - I have been VERY busy. I discovered that there are LOTS of rabbits here at New Life Farm! Let me tell you - those little guys are fast and they like to go in all kinds of places that have sticky bushes.
My friend Andy showed me all of the places that these rabbits like to run through. Andy is too big to get through there - he weighs 140 pounds and it very big. So he told me to just run in there and chase the rabbits out to him and he would catch them. Well, never let a man try to do a lady's job! By the time I got those rabbits to run out, Andy was sacked out in the mulch, snoozin' away. And that wascally wabbit won again!

The Run for the Bone

Today was another busy day of chasing rabbits out of the garden. Andy and I went exploring down in the woods close to the farm with miniature horses. Those horses are just a little bigger than me! But the best thing that happened was that . . . shhh, don't tell Mom . . . we found a BIG BONE! Andy carried it up to our yard and then we took turns chewing on it. Mmmm - there's nothing better than a big bone. Andy hides the bone in one of his secret holes so we will have some more to chew on later. We also spent some time on the lake bank looking at this very big bird - Mom said it was a heron. It has skinny, skinny legs and big wide wings. Don't think it would make a very good meal . . .

My trip to see my friend, Dr. Chris

Today I went to Union with Mom to see my new friend, Dr. Chris Landrum. Or at least he was my friend when we got done. I got weighed - 44.3 pounds in my girlish figure. Then came the part I didn't like too much - a needle in my leg to check to see if I have heartworms. I know about worms - Mom and Dad's son, Bart, uses them to fish and I think that they are pretty gross because you can't eat them. (But the fish like them!) Then our came my stitches in my belly - now I don't have to worry about having any little puppies (even though they would be beautiful like me.) Dr. Chris thought that he could give me a treat after all that, but no thanks - not after all that! I also got my heartworm medicine - it tastes yummy!
Mom says that all dogs and cats should be spayed and neutered, and I agree. After all, that leaves more dog treats for me!
If you would like to visit my friend, Dr. Chris and his wife Dr. Julie, you can see them at the Animal Clinic of Union. Their telephone number is 636-583-5546. I know that you will like them, too!

Hello from Sadie the Blog Dog

Woof, Woof! Hello from me, Sadie the Blog Dog, from my new home at New Life Farm. I arrived here on Tuesday, July 14, from my foster home in Washington, Missouri. My new mom and dad are Gail and Bob Sawicki. I also have a new dog friend, Andy, who has lived at New Life Farm for 5 years - he is much older than me. I was born on July 8, 2008 so I am one year old. My previous family just couldn't keep me anymore, so I went to live with my foster family for a while until I got my forever home. Here is a little more about me: I weigh 40 pounds and my dog parents were part Labrador, part border collie and part dachshund. (The dachshund part has given me a little brown on the edge of my ears.) My coat is shiny black and I have a little white patch on my neck. My mom tells me that I am beautiful! I have many adventures to tell you about but for now I have to sign off - there is a rabbit creeping up to the garden and I have to chase it!
